Job Title: Community Initiatives Coordinator Wales

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

Salary: £30,500 per annum pro rata, plus £1,000 annual car allowance

Vacancy Location: Wales – Based from one of Perthyn's offices in Talgarth, Swansea, Pembroke Dock, Llanelli or Cardiff, with regular travel across Wales.

As Community Initiatives Coordinator, you will help bring these values to life by creating and leading innovative community initiatives, employment pathways and volunteering opportunities that increase inclusion, community presence and meaningful participation for people we support across Wales.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about inclusion, confident building partnerships, and motivated by creating opportunities that help people achieve their goals. You will be comfortable working independently, developing new ideas and turning them into successful community initiatives.

As Community Initiatives Coordinator, you will play a central role in developing opportunities that enable people we support to become more involved in their communities, develop new skills, pursue employment and volunteering opportunities, and achieve the outcomes that matter most to them.

You will work collaboratively with Regional Managers, Supported Living Managers, community organisations, businesses and other stakeholders to identify and create meaningful opportunities for participation, inclusion and personal development.

This role requires a proactive, creative and innovative individual who can turn ideas into practical projects that deliver positive outcomes for people we support.

What You'll Be Doing

• Promoting inclusion and increasing opportunities for meaningful community participation.

• Researching, developing and implementing community-based projects and initiatives.

• Identifying opportunities for people we support to develop skills, confidence and independence.

• Supporting people we support to access volunteering and paid employment opportunities.

• Working alongside managers to develop regional community engagement and inclusion plans.

• Encouraging involvement in consultation groups and other opportunities that help shape Perthyn's future plans and policies.

• Contributing to person-centred planning by helping identify meaningful goals and outcomes.

• Building strong relationships with local businesses, employers, community groups and partner organisations.

• Working with the Head of Business Development to identify funding opportunities and develop project proposals.

• Managing agreed project budgets and monitoring expenditure.

• Producing written proposals, reports and recommendations for new initiatives.

• Promoting active decision-making in line with the Mental Capacity Act.

• Ensuring activities and opportunities maximise inclusion, community connection and opportunities to build meaningful relationships, including occasional evening and weekend involvement where required.

• Maintaining positive communication with stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

What We Need From You

Essential

• Experience of building positive and effective working relationships.

• Strong project management and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and changing demands.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to influence, motivate and engage others.

• Creative and solution-focused approach to challenges.

• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.

• Good budgeting and report-writing skills.

• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements.

• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively as required.

Desirable

• Experience of managing complex projects.

• Experience supporting people with a range of support needs, including learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and complex physical support needs.

• Knowledge of local communities and community resources across Wales.
