About Perthyn

Perthyn is a values-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting people with learning disabilities to live meaningful lives in their own homes. We are committed to person-centred support that promotes independence, choice, and belonging. Our values – Integrity, Empowerment, Innovation, Accountability, Inclusivity, Belonging, Accomplishment, and Resilience – are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

We’re looking for caring, dedicated Support Workers to join our teams across Retford and nearby villages. You will work within small staff teams, spending each shift in one person’s home and supporting them to achieve their personal outcomes.

This is not domiciliary care — you will not travel between locations during your shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a team that supports people with varied interests, routines and support needs. Each setting reflects the personalities and preferences of the individuals who live there.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting with daily routines and household tasks

  • Encouraging independence, confidence and decision‑making

  • Helping people enjoy activities such as baking, music, arts, charity shopping, and local community visits

  • Building warm, respectful and trusting relationships

  • Providing personal care and medication support with dignity and sensitivity

  • Receiving full training in autism, mental health and person‑centred approaches

What We Need From You

We are looking for someone who shares our values and is passionate about supporting people to live their best lives. No previous experience is required – we will provide full training.

Essential:

  • A person-centred, respectful approach

  • Willingness to learn and undertake training

  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins

  • Access to reliable public transport (due to the location of the homes)

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting people with learning disabilities

  • QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care

Your Rewards

  • Competitive Salary – with a generous sleep-in allowance to boost your earnings

  • Maximise Your Income – earn up to £3,000 extra per year with one sleep-in shift per week, or £6,000 with two

  • Overtime Opportunities – for example, one extra shift a week could add around £5,000 annually

  • Comprehensive Training – person-centred and tailored to help you thrive in your role

  • Career Development – including support to achieve your QCF Level 2 qualification

  • Fully Funded DBS Check – we cover the cost so you can focus on your journey

  • Employee Wellbeing Programmes – because your health and happiness matter
